Join the Canadian Apparel Federation and McMillan for this webinar on updated requirements for French language labelling, signage and communications in the province of Quebec.
The webinar will take account of recent changes to Quebec’s language law, as updated by Bill 96 and associated regulations.
On June 26, 2024, a Regulation was published aiming to clarify certain amendments made to the Charter of the French Language (the “Charter”) under the much-discussed Bill 96 and to facilitate the implementation of the Charter as modified by Bill 96. Building on an earlier draft published in January 2024 the Regulation provides specifics and concessions regarding the regime applicable to the use of trademarks in languages other than French on packaging and signage.
The webinar will focus on practical compliance issues and highlight the circumstances where changes to the Charter were instituted in Bill 96. There continues to be confusion and lack of knowledge as to what French requirements already existed, and what changes were made by Bill 96. To add to the confusion, Bill 96 initially proposed more stringent rules that were walked back in the end. The webinar will clarify these points.
