The Canadian government earlier this year launched a review of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE).
CAF submitted comments in October. Any CAF member firm interested in receiving those comments should contact Bob Kirke (bkirke@apparel.ca) at the Canadian Apparel Federation.
Our comments dealt with the mandate and the operations of the office.
Please find below the text of the government communications regarding this review:
In January 2024, the Government of Canada committed to undertake a review of the office of the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE) in its Government Response to the tenth report of the House of Commons Standing Committee on International Trade entitled Canadian Mining and Mineral Exploration Firms Operating Abroad: Impacts on the Natural Environment and Human Rights .
As part of this exercise, Global Affairs Canada has reached out to stakeholders who have expressed an interest in the CORE and its activities or have interacted with the office since its launch in 2019 to seek views on the office's effectiveness and operations.
Provide your comments to COREreview-revueOCRE@international.gc.ca no later than October 29, 2024.
